What is the best anti-virus security software available

Everyone has their opinion

As the title to this section states, everyone has their opinions. This follows true well into the anti-virus world too. However, your opinion just may be a security hole in your computer. There are people who swear by a certain anti-virus. This could be because of the marketing hype of the software, because a good friend recommended it, or because everyone out there thinks they are computer network security specialists when they know how to download a torrent or rip a DVD.

None of those are good reasons to choose a certain software over another. Many of the anti-virus software out there are all the same. Some may offer a 5 minute database list update over a 15 minute database list update but in the end, you wasted ten more dollars over 10 less minutes. It doesn't help and maybe the software was crap to begin with.

After my PayPal account got hacked and a lot of my money stolen, I went on a mad search to try to find out what the best anti-virus software was out there. My results shocked me.

Free doesn't mean it's no good

I want to introduce to you an anti-virus that you may or may not have heard of before. Microsoft Security Essentials. This is an important program. It is much more lightweight than suite software options and it does the same job. And better yet, it's FREE!

This software from Microsoft is taking the world by storm. People often have nasty things to say about Microsoft and their products. Some things that these people need to understand is that Microsoft builds anti-virus software that work hand in hand with their own OS. Microsoft's built in defender and firewall has also gotten much better over the years since the standard for security has risen time and time again.

Microsoft Security Essentials is what I use now, after trying numerous other programs out there with below par results. I have used many programs including Norton, AVG, Avira, and many others. I find that Microsoft Security Essentials outperforms them not only by catching and destroying viruses but preventing them from even becoming a problem in the first place. The reason for this is the daily virus definition update available. But another reason is because the program protects your PC in real-time and has live system behavior monitoring. You can find a full list of features by going to the software feature and benefits page.

To run with or not to run with... That is the question

You have options when it comes to running Microsoft Security Essentials. You can run other industry leading software side by side with it and still have great performance and protection from your computer. Two of these programs I suggest running with MSE for optimum protection is Keyscrambler and MalwareBytes.

Keyscrambler deters keyloggers from getting your keystrokes and stealing valuable information such as login and password information. This is the golden age for keyloggers and I have lost much information and money due to one of these nasty little buggers. And what makes it worse is that they are becoming much more stealthy with each passing day.

MalwareBytes is the industry leading standard for anti-malware and is recommended by many online businesses and critics. This program comes in a free and paid version. The paid version runs in real-time while the free version you need to scan manually. Both are great options.

Pair these two programs with MSE and you are good to go! I use this setup and I will tell you it works with flying colors. Read below for my personal testimonial of MSE and what it has done for me.

My personal testimonial

Since I have started using MSE, I have had ZERO problems. I was using AVG right before I swapped to this and I will be the first to say that I have no regrets. I lost my personal information many times while I was using AVG. I lost many usernames and passwords to online gaming accounts and financial institutions.

I decided to re-evaluate my situation when it came to anti-virus and anti-malware. I decided to take action. I looked around and stumbled upon MSE. I gave it a try. What a difference. Since then, I have had no worries and no viruses. For extra protection, I decided to throw in keyscrambler and MalwareBytes. I am 110% protected. Even if a virus or keylogger finds it way onto my computer, keyscrambler will not allow it to detect my keystrokes due to it encrypting them. If MSE doesn't detect the keylogger, and that's a big if, I will run MalwareBytes and it will find and destroy it.

I just can't find the proper words to say when it comes to how I am feeling about MSE and what it has done for my security holes, not to mention PC performance. If you are thinking about using any other security program out there, try this before you go buy something. Give it a chance and see if it can do the same for you that it has done for me. You may be surprised too.

If you don't want to use MSE, the next software I suggest you use is Comodo Internet Security or Comodo Anti-Virus Advanced. It's good stuff also.
